NEET Exam 2019
After the recommendation of the Health Ministry, the
Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has changed the decision of the
National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) examination twice a year and only in
online mode. After all the protests, now the decision to organize the NEET exam
is similar to the previous year.
Last month, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar had announced
that the newly formed National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct joint entrance
exam-main for admission in engineering colleges, along with the National
Eligibility Entrance Test examination twice a year. They had announced that all
examinations taken by NTA would be computer-based.
After this, the Ministry of Health wrote a letter to the
Human Resource Development Ministry, and expressed concern about the need to
conduct examination twice a year, as such examination programs could put
additional pressure on the students. Concerns about the students living in
rural areas were also expressed that only examination in online mode could be
difficult for them.
An official said that after the request of the Ministry of
Health and Family Welfare, unlike earlier statement of change in the
examination pattern, it was decided to make it now through pen-paper mode i.e.
offline and in similar languages as planned last year.
The Health Ministry wanted to adopt last year's pattern
only. The Ministry of Human Resource Development made public the final program
of the examinations organized by the NTA till May 2019 following the possible
program released by the ministry last month.
The official said, "NTA is establishing nationwide
network of examination center (TPC) for rural areas, so that everyone can get
an opportunity to practice before the exam. TPC will have a download computer
based test (CBT). It will be like the actual test on the day of the exam. '
